An article in History Today attempts to break down the concurrent histories of Ireland's First World War journey, and it's independence movement, sparked by the 1916 Easter Rising.

John Gibney illustrates how the events were "inextricably linked", and why a balanced remembrance of both events is vital during Ireland's 'Decade of Centenaries'.
