'Apocalypse World War 1' - Great War film series at the Institut Français London

A series of films examining issues raised by the First World War is to be screened at the Institut Français in London, starting on September 8th 2014.

Apocalypse World War 1 draws on more than 500 hours of archival footage to trace the stories of civilians and soldiers across the world. 

Questions addressed include: 'Was the sacrifice of an entire generation worldwide an avoidable or a necessary tragedy?'  

'Are the roots the Second World War to be found in the devastation of World War 1 and the Treaty of Versailles?'

The films will be screened in five daily episodes at the Ciné Lumière, Institut Français, 7 Queensberry Place London SW7 2DT. Details of times and booking can be found here
